Director’s Update July 2017

It’s a beautiful July day, and as I write this letter I am filled with of energy and hope.  At Interweave, summer is both a time for work as well as a chance for rest and reflection. In this in-between time, while we are planning for what is to come, we want to take a moment to savor all the ways we came together as a community last year. In fact, coming together was the focus of our annual meeting in April as we celebrated another year of Interweave programming. Weaving Our Tapestry was the theme, and we looked back with great pride at the good work we accomplished, celebrated the continuing story of Interweave and the exciting challenges and possibilities ahead.

Our program theme last year was change, and wasn’t that on point! We dealt with societal shifts in real time, with programs like After the Election, Continuing the Conversation, What Kind of World is This? and Can a Divided America Heal?

On the spiritual front we held programs like Lessons from the River, Emerging Interspiritual Theology with Rory McIntee, and Emergent Spirit, Healing during a Time Out of Joint: Living into Mystery, Lessons of the River with Shefa Gold.

Our annual gala was a fun and inspirational evening with a new focus.  With a real sense of pride and community we honored founding member Sue Hirner and Episcopal priest, award-winning spiritual writer and executive director of GreenFaith Fletcher Harper.

The development of our new Wisdom School is off to a promising start with pilot program Spiritual Insurgency. Thanks to all who participated in and supported the three day spiritual intensive at Trinity House in Stirling. I felt renewed and inspired, and excited about all of the possibilities for Interweave. Stay tuned for more innovative offerings!

Last week our 2020 appeal should have arrived in your mailbox. We want to remind you of our exciting match opportunity. When you make a gift by July 20 it will be matched dollar for dollar, enabling you to double your impact.

During the summer we will be in development and program planning mode. You will be receiving both surveys and invitations to participate in focus groups as we plan for the future.
I hope you have a relaxing and restorative summer and look forward to seeing you in the fall. Thank you for being part of Interweave. We wouldn’t be here without you!
