Dances of Universal Peace
Movements for Harmony and Healing

The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, joyous, multicultural, circle dances that use sacred phrases, chants, music, and movements from the many traditions of the earth to touch the spiritual essence within ourselves and others. The Dances focus on peace and harmony creating a sense of solidarity and community while celebrating the underlying unity of all the spiritual traditions of the world. By experiencing these many traditions, we gain a greater understanding and appreciation of other cultures, as well as our own heritage. There are no performers nor audience in these dances—new arrivals and old hands form the circle together.

Journaling the Path to Healing and Creativity
A Monthly Circle for Writing and More

Parker Palmer describes our lives as a “hidden wholeness” between our inner and outer realities. Journaling can help access these inner hopes, dreams and expectations which can then bring better balance to our hectic outer lives. Through poetry, guided meditation and creative writing in our journals we will explore our inner gifts of which we may or may not be aware that can then give new energy and direction to our daily lives. Our March gathering will focus specifically on our dreams and the way they provide information and sustenance to our life-journey. Each session is both individual and continuous so no prior experience is needed.

Fires for the Cold
A Winter Poetry Afternoon

Engage your mind and heart, tap into new creative dimensions, and feed your soul with an afternoon of poetry. Rediscover old friends and meet new favorite poets as Raechel invites us into a rich encounter with the rhythms and imagery that give poetry its power to entrance and free us. Time for pondering and introspection, conversation, and warming refreshments will be part of this special afternoon. “For poems are not words, after all,” says Mary Oliver, “but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.”

Chakras
Doorways to Your Own Sacred Energy

Learn how to promote healing and transformation in your life! Discover the subtle energy system that influences body and psyche. The chakras, or energy centers in and beyond your body, regulate the flow of vital energy to your whole self. Blocks in this well-organized energy system affect both emotional and physical health.  We’ll look at an overview of the chakras, and explore a direct sensory experience of this vital reality. We will then engage in an ancient journeying practice to enter the realm of the sacred. Passing through the portal of our own chakra system, we will enter into the wounded healer story that exists in every individual. This Sacred Story clues us into the place(s) within us that require the most attention for healing, and guides us toward our own healing processes. Knowing our Sacred Story, we can embark on or continue on our personal healing journey with greater clarity. Join Ali Rizvi, a life coach and Native Ceremonialist, for an educational and experiential workshop about chakras.

 The Director’s Wednesday Seminar

The Great Transformation
Seeds of Hope in a World of Conflict

Discover the fascinating origins of the world’s major spiritual traditions and the radical message of compassion and justice they brought—and still bring—to a world torn by strife, inter-tribal conflict, and war. Learn how Zoroaster’s visions of a “being of light” set him on a new path of peace, how the Prophet Muhammad brought unity to competing tribes, how Jesus sought to prevent war, and the Buddha stopped the “war within.” Using Karen Armstrong’s best-selling The Great Transformation: The Beginnings of our Religious Traditions, we’ll explore her  claim that these ancient creeds, freed from their tribal isolation, unite in calling the world to a new era of compassion.
