In Search of the Common Good

Monday, Dec. 18

Reception 5:30,
Program begins at 6:00 at Christ Church, Short Hills

The  events in Charlottesville were a jarring reminder of our nation’s long, unresolved history of racism and racially motivated violence. Many of us were left wondering how such a divided country could come together and heal. Dr Nancy Cantor, Rutgers University-Newark Chancellor, will bring a valuable historical perspective to help us put the events into context and understand the complexity of the societal challenges unmasked by Charlottesville.

In a recent op-ed piece for Huffington Post, Dr. Cantor, and Earl Lewis, President of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, wrote:

It is our choice how we craft the narrative after Charlottesville. Are we prepared to become the architects of the future we imagine, one that leverages a diverse, democratic society?

Please join us for  a vibrant evening as Dr.Cantor brings an important historical perspective, and shares her insights and vision for a way forward.
