The Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola offer us rich spiritual practices to deepen our relationship with God. Written in 16th-century, the writings of this Spanish priest still speak carry the powerful message of God presence in the world and the call to the gospel life. This introduction to the exercises will focus on “Discernment” which at the heart of Ignatian spiritualty. We awaken to our interior movements and ask ourselves how is God moving in our lives, including our day to day decisions. Retreat facilitator Marie Santana will be our guide In this time of contemplation and will be assisted by Interweave’s Carl Maulbeck who is also a follower of the practices.
Marie Santana is on staff at Loyola Retreat House where she regularly leads retreats on the exercises. She has developed a layperson’s guide to the Spiritual exercises.
