Inhabiting the Heights and Depths of the Soul Explorations in Transpersonal Psychology Is your “self” more than your personal ego? When the poet Coleman Barks writes “This is how alive (Rumi’s) model of the human psyche is, where the secular and the sacred are always mingling, the mythic and the ordinary, dream vision and street life,” he could just as easily been describing the scope of Transpersonal Psychology. We encounter these heights and depths of ourselves everyday in response to stories, films, events, encounters In this two week series, you’ll explore the direct encounter with self-in-the-world, and learn some of the “maps” of the psyche, including Jung’s. Enrich your awareness and deepen your encounter with the soul of the world. Bible for a New Day Love is a Flame of God: Love, Passion and Spiritual Ardor in Scripture and the Mystical Poetry of Many Faiths Learn the many faces of love! This cosmic energy that “moves the sun and the stars” according to Dante, what e.e.cummings calls the “root of the root of a tree called life,” is more like a lion than a lamb, “stronger than death” according to the Bible. We will read Biblical stories about love both human—the love of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Joseph and Potiphar’s wife, Jesus and the Beloved Disciple—and divine, as in God’s love for Israel and for every lost sheep who ever lived. Our study will be enriched with mystical poetry from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim centuries. Feast yourself at love’s table—and find some take-away truths for all your loving relationships: family, friends, special beloveds, the world and its Source.
