Celebrating
Interweave and Bob’s 40 Years of “Public Ministry”
This year’s Annual Meeting will be a particularly festive occasion as
we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our director Robert Corin Morris’
ordination to the priesthood. The evening will begin with a Service of
Thanksgiving in Calvary Church and continue with a delicious reception
and dinner and presentations about Interweave’s work. The keynoter
will be the Rev. Fletcher Harper, Director of GreenFaith, New Jersey’s
interfaith coalition for the environment. GreenFaith connects religious
leaders and people of diverse faiths with the environment, helping
clergy and lay leaders to “go green” themselves and advocate for
environmental justice. “We believe that religious leaders and people
of faith have an important role to play in the protection of the
environment, just as they played a decisive role in the Civil Rights
Movement,” Harper says. “We've found that there are hosts of ways a
synagogue, church, mosque or temple, and individuals, can unite a love
of God, the Spirit or the sacred with a love of the environment.” Bob’s
ministry, and Interweave’s work, has been founded on just such
interconnections. Join us for a stimulating and special evening.
Abrahamic Activities: Join the Growing Interfaith Dialogue Movement
Mark your calendars! Our Jewish/Christian/Muslim network is
thriving, with several planned events this spring (see below), and a
number of kindred projects are coming up as well. The North Jersey
Christian-Muslim Project (NJCMP) will hold its winter forum on Monday,
February 5 at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross RC Church in Wayne. Speaking on the
subject “Think – or Just Believe? Faith and Reason in the Life of
the Believer” will be Imam Mohammed Qatanani from the Islamic Center
of Passaic County and the Rev. Dean Weber of All Saints Episcopal Church
in Leonia. The Stamp Out Hate Coalition will present its Eighth Annual
Teen Conference on Sunday, March 25, 2-4:30 p.m. at NJPAC. Featured will
be Dr. Michael Fowlin, a.k.a. Mykee, in a one-man show dealing with
race, discrimination, personal identity, violence prevention, gender
equality and homophobia. Parents, clergy, educators and youth group
leaders are welcome to attend the Conference with their youth and
participate in a special adult discussion group. There is no cost, but
registration is required. To register, or for more information, contact
the Stamp Out Hate Coalition at 973-379-7844. The NJCMP’s Second
Annual Christian-Muslim Youth Dialogue will be held on Wednesday, May 2
at 7:30 p.m. at the Islamic Center, 152 Derrom Ave., Paterson. For more
information about NJCMP events, contact the Rev. Lynne Bleich Weber at
