A letter from the Executive Director

Dear Friends,

As you are no doubt acutely aware, the Coronavirus is a serious health threat. All of us are called upon to act responsibly and work together to contain the virus and preserve the common good.

On behalf of myself and our board of trustees, I want to assure you that Interweave is committed to being here to support you during this challenging and stressful time. I am so grateful to our teachers, partners and campuses for helping us to navigate this season of change as we work to serve you safely.

At Interweave our concern is always for the wellness of each of you and the community as a whole. Many of our current classes are already converting to a virtual experience. In the coming weeks we will be transitioning to using online platforms so that we can be there to support your spiritual journey.

The mission of Interweave is nurture spirituality, wellness and the common good. Yet in recent years, wellness has somewhat taken a backseat in our work to support integrated spirituality and the common good. We would go to the gym, take a yoga class, take our vitamins and improve our diets. Wellness was somewhat taken for granted. Suddenly wellness is at the forefront.

In the face of the onset of the Coronavirus – how will we be well? I know you are receiving health updates about what to do to stay well and as good global citizens I trust and implore you to follow the recommended health precautions.

Take care of yourself – You are precious! The world needs people like you; Interweavers who nurture the compassion and care that will be needed if we are to rise to what this moment will ask of us.

But how do we hold the anxiety that seems to be enveloping our world?

Psalm 46 beautifully reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. That same prayer invites us to Be still and know that God is. Perhaps we can view this time of slowing down and increased seclusion as an invitation into that sacred stillness.

There is no easy way to move through this period of unprecedented change. In this time that will require us to practice social distancing, we can embrace our spiritual practices, our commitment to one another and the common good with new meaning and sense of purpose.

Interweave will stay “in touch” as we find new ways to offer you resources that will nourish your spiritual life and foster our spiritual community to help fight against a sense of isolation.

We are not alone. We remain spirituality connected.

Yours in the Spirit,
Janet Aulet Maulbeck
