The story of a Pilgrim people, the story of Christianity is an epic story as full of richness and complexity as the people of God. As Christianity spreads over time and through out the world – there are distinct evolutions in the expressions of our faith. The sweeping history of the Church takes us across continents, cultural and theological divides, from the Nicene Council to the reformation.

This introduction to church history, explores the major milestones of Christianity from its Je beginnings, through the centuries and into the emergence of the Episcopal church in North America.

We will begin each week with prayer, reflecting on spirituality on of the historic figures that impacted these shifts and movements in the church. Participants are expected to have read the texts before class and to participate actively in our seminar discussion. Along with discussion, our evenings will incorporate prayer and community-building. Course texts include Church History: An Essential Guide by Justo Gonzalez and readings as assigned.

This course is designed for those in training for the Diaconate, but if you have ever wanted to contemplate church history’s most important events consider auditing this course.

The Reverend Tim Mulder is our teacher and guide. Tim brings both his experience as a pastor and as a scholar to this course.
