The Ecological Self: Embodied, Embedded, Ensouled Walking Daily in Reverence and Response

People in almost every tradition are revisioning the place of Earth and the “earthly” in their beliefs and spiritual practice. For Christianity, this means recovering the neglected, even suppressed, encounter with the life of this planet as filled with wisdom, sacred presence, and the Divine.  How can we walk this renewed Path alive to Meister Eckhart’s sense of “God at the heart of all things”?  How can we rediscover the Scriptures as a manual for living in this amazing evolutionary reality, which Isaiah saw as “full of God’s glory?”

Spiritual practice not only needs to be “embodied” in the organic reality our earthling-ness, but in the “embedded” reality of creation as a community— “all my relatives,”—from the stars to the green and blue living web of life. Using insights and practices from Celtic Christian spirituality, deep ecology, inter-religious wisdom and the “new universe story” of the evolving cosmos, we will explore ways to align our everyday awareness of the ways the Divine is manifest in life-giving ways.  How do we walk daily with the God who raised us from the primal dust to behold and breathe in the breath of heaven?

This group will meet monthly on Zoom, with some periodic in-person gatherings planned as conditions permit.

The Reverend Robert C. Morris D.D. author, spiritual guide, and founder of Interweave Is the instructor and facilitator of this spiritual intensive series.
