Relating Rilke’s Journey in
The Book of Hours and
Jung’s Soul Journey
We will look at Rilke’s Journey in The Book of Hours, first from an exoteric Christian perspective then from a more anguished and esoteric existential perspective. As Jung, a contemporary, has counseled holding the tension of such opposites and waiting until they move can lead to breakthrough and wisdom. In The Book of Hours are found all of Rilke’s major themes: love, death, the fears of childhood, the idolization of woman, and, finally, the matter of “God”. Dr. Tim ‘Connell will lead this afternoon of poetry and pondering.
Tim O’Connell, Ph D. has been practicing psychotherapy since 1980. Tim takes a transpersonal approach to his work.
