Medical Equipment MD

Daughter on ventilator, BGE bill spiked $180 from machine. Doctor letter ignored. What forces Maryland utilities to honor medical needs?

Maryland’s Medical Equipment Protection Program delays shut-off 30 days and adds 600 kWh/month at lowest rate. My neighbor’s vent kid got $1,200 forgiven. Need state medical form (site has PDF), machine Rx, and bill. The portal lets doctors e-sign: https://www.utilityassistance.org/md/ – select “medical baseline.” BGE must accept; code “MEP” appears on bill. No income test, just equipment proof.
